Brookwater Golf Club has retained its position as Queensland’s number one golf course, with the release of Australia’s 50 Best Courses by Golf Australia magazine.

Since opening in 2003, Brookwater has drawn acclaim for it stunning Greg Norman-designed layout.

Judges once again rewarded the course in 2008 with its ranking as Queensland’s number one course.

Brookwater General Manager Mark Holland said it was an honour to retain the number one spot.

“We are very proud to have been named Queensland’s number one course by Golf Australia again in 2008,” Mr Holland said.

“Not only is credit due to golf course designer Greg Norman for this ranking, but also to the agronomy staff at Brookwater who ensure golfers experience superior playing surfaces everyday.

“As Brookwater makes the transition from public access to private course, we are committed to the continual delivering of the finest golfing experience in Queensland,” he said.

Arguably one of the most reputable golf course rankings in the country, the biennial release of Golf Australia’s 50 Best Courses, is judged by 13 golf course architects, designers, journalists and industry heavy weights.

The Golf Australia rankings, which take into account all courses within Australia, ranked Brookwater as the 21st best course in the country.

Judging criteria for the Golf Australia rankings included course design, conditioning, playability and the ‘wow’ factor.

Brookwater Golf Club is part of the $250 million Brookwater residential development by Springfield Land Corporation.

The club is managed by Troon Golf, the recognised leader in upscale golf course management and development around the world.  The company currently manages 190 golf courses in 29 countries including the USA, Scotland, Japan, Mexico and the Bahamas.
