Drift Brookwater to go Bollywood for charity
Drift restaurant, now based at Brookwater in Greater Springfield, will be reborn as a Bollywood film set as it prepares to host Springfield’s annual Boulevard Ball fundraiser on Friday 23 September. Since the Ball’s inception five years ago, the event, jointly hosted by Springfield Land Corporation and Ipswich City Council, has raised tens of thousands of dollars for charity.
Springfield Land Corporation (SLC) Chairman Maha Sinnathamby said the fifth annual Boulevard Ball promised to be even more spectacular than ever.
“Drift has settled well into its new home at Greater Springfield so it made sense to have the social event of the season at this award winning restaurant,” Mr Sinnathamby said.
“Bollywood films are all about excess and over-the-top extravagance and I hope the indulgence of the night gets people in the mood to donate money to some very worthwhile causes.
“This year, profits from the Boulevard Ball will go towards Mater Foundation and the Ipswich Hospital Foundation both of which are dedicated to raising vital funds for health care, lifesaving medical equipment and cutting edge research. In particular, money raised will go towards the needs of children within these hospitals.
“Mater Health Services is also currently working with Springfield Land Corporation to deliver an integrated health service for the entire Western Corridor.”
Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale said he was pleased to again support the ball as a fun way of raising much-needed money for local charities and causes.
“The night will also feature quality wines and fine food by Drift Brookwater’s award-winning chef Romain Bapst, live entertainment and high quality auction items.
“This is a night to get dressed in your best Bollywood finery and support the community,” said Councillor Pisasale.
The 2011 Boulevard Ball @ Brookwater will be held on Friday 23 September with a 6.45 for 7pm start at Drift Brookwater, Tournament Drive at Brookwater.
Corporate sponsors for the evening include Grant Thornton, University of Southern Queensland, Hutchinson Builders, Russell and Company solicitors, Sterihealth, Cardno, Minter Ellison and GEON Print.
