The health, education and fitness opportunities available to the residents of Greater Springfield and surrounds just became a little more diverse, with Sifu Stephen Dunn of Combat Martial Arts recently relocating his teaching studio to Education City.

With more than 30 years experience and internationally recognised teaching qualifications in martial arts, Mr Dunn brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding of martial arts to Greater Springfield that will equip his students with self-defence principles while also improving their health and fitness.

Mr Dunn said that while a quality premises at an attractive price influenced his decision to move to Education City, there was a symbolic relationship to Education City making it the ideal location for his new teaching studio.

“Martial Arts is about far more than just kicking and punching an opponent, it is a recognised art and millions of people around the world dedicate their lives to understanding the theory and principles behind the different forms,”

“Because Education City is all about learning, schooling, skilling and work, I think it is the most ideal place for my teaching studio,” Mr Dunn said.

Springfield Land Corporation’s Director of Educational Services, Neville Smith, said that providing a facility for people to come and study martial arts in Greater Springfield further diversified the learning opportunities in Education City.

“Education City provides multiple learning opportunities to its local and international community by bringing education, training and learning providers together to the one location,”

“Adding Combat Martial Arts to the mix of education providers already on campus consolidates Education City as a place where people can continue to learn on all levels,” Mr Smith said.

Mr Dunn currently teaches Muay Thai, Kali and various grappling techniques but is looking to rapidly expand his class options to cater for the increasing demand, especially for classes specifically designed for children.

“Current classes mainly cater for beginners, but as demand increases so too will the class options,”

“We will be looking to have classes for specific age ranges and also one specialising in ladies self-defence,” Mr Dunn said.
