To further cater for the growing population the Queensland Government is set to establish increased emergency services in Greater Springfield during 2009.

The new police and ambulance stations are situated on a major arterial road and will provide support to Greater Springfield suburbs and surrounds.

Minister for Police, Corrective Services and Sport Judy Spence and Member for Bundamba Jo-Ann Miller have turned the first sod on the new Springfield Police Station, which is due for completion at the end of this year.

Ms Spence said she was pleased to see this important project taking shape.

“This new state-of-the-art facility will ensure police in this area are well-resourced to do their job of protecting the community.

“We are committed to providing our officers with the modern facilities required for policing in the 21st century.

“The new facilities will include accommodation for General Duties, Traffic, Criminal Investigation Branch, and Child Protection Investigation Unit,” Ms Spence said.

Springfield Land Corporation Managing Director Bob Sharpless said the delivery of the additional emergency services was a major coup for residents.

“These sites have been identified as key locations for delivering emergency services to the Western Corridor now and into the future,” Mr Sharpless said.
