Construction of the first landmark facility at Springfield Technology Park will soon be underway following the appointment of Hutchinson Builders to develop the 1500m2 office and warehouse space for energy powerhouse Dalkia.

The purpose built A-grade building will house Dalkia's Queensland Head Office, National Call Centre and National Energy Bureau and will be of high quality architectural design addressing the specific requirements of the company.

Chairman of Hutchinson Builders Scott Hutchinson said they were looking forward to beginning work on the Dalkia facility and expected practical completion in the first quarter of 2010.

"We have worked with Springfield Land Corporation before in delivering the landmark Springfield Tower and look forward to working on other projects in the area. We are very keen to increase our involvement in the growing city," Mr Hutchinson said.

"Hutchinson Builders has been responsible for a number of large scale constructions including Northbridge Tower, 545 Queen Street Bundall Corporate and 53 Albert Street which along with Springfield Tower have been awarded with a Round 1 certified rating by the Green Building Council of Australia."

"Hutchinson Builders is committed to creating sustainable economic development and employment in the region and promoting skills and training within the regions through the employment of the local population and developing a highly skilled workforce.

"Greater Springfield will continue to grow significantly over the next ten years and I look forward to working with Springfield Land Corporation to deliver this and many other impressive facilities in the city."

Dalkia Australia Chief Executive Officer Mike Rundle said setting up the company's headquarters in Springfield Technology Park will create opportunities to provide further value-added solutions to the city.

"We saw Springfield Technology Park as an ideal location for our facilities and an opportunity not to be missed," Mr Rundle said.

"Dalkia already provides energy services and facilities management to the city.  This deal will enhance our existing relationship with Springfield Land Corporation and we look forward to being involved in the future development of one of South East Queensland's fastest growing regions."

Springfield Technology Park is a 15-hectare mixed use development offering significant opportunities for businesses requiring large combined office and warehouse space or smaller strata offices with warehouse space.

Springfield Land Corporations Executive Director for Commercial Developments Chris Schroor said Springfield Technology Park would create jobs, promote business opportunities and provide environmentally conscious high quality office accommodation.

"Springfield Technology Park will be a landmark office park that will provide technology driven solutions from an easily accessible location," Mr Schroor said.

It also has access to Australia's most advanced ICT infrastructure with direct dark fibre connectivity to Brisbane and Sydney through the country's first Tier 3+ Data Centre located in Springfield Central.

The development offers tenants a quality working environment with the convenience of being close to the city centre, at a fraction of the cost of Brisbane's CBD.
