Ian Keilar: I did it my way

The story of Springfield has been 20 years in the making and surveyor and planner Ian Keilar of LandPartners has been there since the beginning.

Springfield Land Corporation Deputy Managing Director Raynuha Sinnathamby said they had made a submission to Ipswich City Council to name Ian Keilar Drive in his honour.

"He can tell you what used to be under that rock or behind that tree," Ms Sinnathamby said.

"It was a small but permanent way of acknowledging the contribution Ian has made to this city over two decades."

The new road links to Barry Alexander Drive, named after Mr Keilar's long-time colleague.

"Having started here and seen it come to this level of development is so exciting and so good," Mr Keilar said.

"I was quite amazed when they named the street after my full name.  I feel very honoured and humbled."
