Greater Springfield is attracting multinational companies to its Central Business District (CBD) with one of the world’s leading energy services companies set to call the city home next year.

Dalkia will transition their existing employees to the region and expect to grow their personnel to 75 after signing up to take 1,500 square metres of office and warehouse space at the city’s newest business precinct, Springfield Technology Park.

Springfield Land Corporation Executive General Manager of Commercial Projects Chris Schroor said the new facility is another link in the strategic alliance with Dalkia, a subsidiary of Veolia Environment and Electricite de France (EDF).

“Dalkia already provides energy services and facilities management to the city. By moving its headquarters to Springfield Technology Park we are further cementing our relationship with the company,” Mr Schroor said.

Dalkia Australia Chief Executive Officer Mike Rundle said basing the company in Springfield Technology Park will create opportunities to provide value added solutions to the city.

“This deal will enhance our existing close relationship with Springfield Land Corporation and we look forward to being involved in the future development of one of South East Queensland’s fastest growing regions.”

The purpose built project will house Dalkia’s Queensland Head Office, National Call Centre and National Energy Bureau. The A Grade building will be a high quality architectural design addressing the specific requirements of the company.

Dalkia’s decision to relocate prior to completion of bulk earthworks is a positive reinforcement of the significant pent up demand for a quality business address in the western corridor.

Mr Schroor said that Springfield Technology Park will be ideally suited to cater for such a demand.

“The park-style design of Springfield Technology Park offers a viable alternative to traditional parks with direct access to all Greater Springfield amenities,” he said.

“The property features prominent commercial frontage, 24 hour security surveillance and ample parking with direct links to the growing retail, business, health and education precincts of Springfield’s CBD.”

Springfield Technology Park is a six hectare mixed use development offering significant opportunities for businesses requiring large combined office warehouse space or smaller strata offices with warehouse space.

The development offers tenants a quality working environment with the convenience of being close to the city centre, at a fraction of the cost of Brisbane’s CBD.

It also has access to Australia’s most advanced ICT infrastructure with direct dark fibre connectivity to Brisbane and Sydney through the country’s first Tier 3+ Data Centre located in Springfield Central.

Mr Schroor said Springfield Land Corporation is committed to meeting tenant requirements through innovative design and development solutions.

“We will work closely with all of our tenants at Springfield Technology Park catering the design to their specific needs to ensure complete satisfaction,” he said.

Construction on Dalkia’s space is scheduled to begin in March 2009 with completion due in December 2009.
