Hot newcomers to the youth music scene, Operator Please, are turning it on for South East Queenslanders at a free all-ages gig for Education City Fiesta in Greater Springfield on Saturday 23 August 2008.
Operator Please will play their first free Brisbane gig this year after having just returned from a whirlwind tour of Europe and Japan including a show at the famed Glastonbury Festival and more recently, at Splendour in the Grass at Byron Bay. The five young Gold Coast locals are looking forward to rocking with the more than 3,000 people expected to attend the Fiesta.

Springfield Tower Soars Over Parkside Date: 25/06/08
Springfield Tower, the first of many high rise buildings planned for the 320 hectare CBD of Greater Springfield (twice the size of Brisbane CBD), is quite literally soaring even higher today as a 24.5 metre spire is erected on top of the 10-storey tower.
Springfield Land Corporation Chairman, Dr Maha Sinnathamby, said the spire would take a 150 tonne and 80 tonne crane to install and would become an icon on the Springfield skyline.

Springfield Land Corporation Chairman, Maha Sinnathamby announced today that the company would fund five scholarships over two years worth a combined total of almost $100,000.

Springfield to build world class town parklands Date: 11.02.08
The booming master-planned city of Greater Springfield will be home to a world-class public parklands, named Robbell Domain, which will become the “green heart and lungs” of the city. Springfield Land Corporation chairman, Maha Sinnathamby, announced that plans for the 24 hectare parklands would proceed, following news that the Queensland Government would contribute $5.9m in funding and offer a further $5m interest-free loan to Ipswich City Council.

Springfield Boulevard Ball Raises Magic for Charity Date: 25/02/08
Springfield Land Corporation and Ipswich City Council’s 2nd Springfield Boulevard Ball was an outstanding success last night, with more than 450 guests treated to an exquisite night of magical entertainment in the name of fundraising. The event raised more than $12.000 for local charities with Goldenhar Syndrome sufferer Georgia Norris, aged 1, the major beneficiary. Brookwater Golf Club has retained its position as Queensland’s number one golf course, with the release of Australia’s 50 Best Courses by Golf Australia magazine. Since opening in 2003, Brookwater has drawn acclaim for it stunning Greg Norman-designed layout. Judges once again rewarded the course in 2008 with its ranking as Queensland’s number one course. Brookwater General Manager Mark Holland said it was an honour to retain the number one spot. “We are very proud to have been named Queensland’s number one course by Golf Australia again in 2008,” Mr Holland said.
Springfield Boulevard Ball comes to Georgia's aid Date: 30/01/08
The second annual Springfield Boulevard Ball will make the life a little easier for one special little girl. The 2008 Boulevard Ball is tipped to surpass the success of last year’s inaugural event with over 500 people expected to attend with a Shakespearean “Midsummer Night’s Dream” theme. Money raised from the Boulevard Ball will go to the Mayoress’ Community Support Committee, with one of the main beneficiaries being 11-month old Georgia Norris from Springfield Lakes.

Tenants of Springfield Tower celebrated its progress at a function last week. Springfield Land Corporation hosted the event to give those already signed to the tower an insite into its construction and why it has achieved a 4 Green Star building rating. The 10-storey building is expected to be finished in mid-2008 and is the CBD's first building.

As part of the Boundary Road. Kelliher Road upgrade, the Centenary Highway link between the Ipswich Motorway and Garden Road ramps is currently being constructed. This project will continue the duplication of the Centenary Highway between the Garden Road ramps and Springfield.

Harvard Medial International visited Greater Springfield recently to negotiate and provide strategic advice on possible partnerships with several Queensland universities about linking programs to Springfield Land Corporation’s new 50HA Health City Precinct. The University of Queensland executive dean of health Peter Brooks confirmed it was considering a partnership with Springfield Land Corporation in the areas of clinical training, research and consultancies.
