Greater Springfield is proud to welcome one of Brisbane’s most exciting bar and hospitality venues, the Ballistic Beer Co.

The Salisbury-based craft beer brewery will open its Springfield Brewery, Bar & Kitchen in October at the former Springfield Central Tavern site, with the fit-out currently underway to suit the Ballistic brand.

The new Greater Springfield operation is the third offering from Ballistic which runs a similar venture at its West End Alehouse and Kitchen premises.

Ballistic Beer Co. CEO David Kitchen said growth and community engagement were key drivers behind the opening in Greater Springfield.

“The opening here will see us continue our expansion with a small scale R&D brewery and a bar serving our great beers and awesome quality food,” Mr Kitchen said.

“The growth in craft beer in Queensland has been very rapid and with the introduction last year of the Queensland Government Craft Beer Strategy we have the backing of Government to expand, make more beer and employ more people.

“This new venue will see us employ around 30 staff in Greater Springfield, bringing our grand total of employees up to approximately 60 across all locations.”

The brewpub will feature an 800 litre brewery that will focus on brewing different styles of beer, using different brewing methods and unique ingredients.

The hospitality side of the business of the Greater Springfield location will consist of a 350 seat venue, including function spaces, beer garden, bottle shop, acoustic live music stage, full bar (including wine and spirits) and a beer tap system, pouring 18 different types of Ballistic and other craft beers.

As part of Ballistic Beer Co’s commitment to Greater Springfield, the Alehouse will be working with local education providers to offer a hospitality training venue.

“Much of Ballistic Beer Co’s success in Salisbury and West End is due to our involvement in and support from the local community,” Mr Kitchen said.

“Education, as well as support of local groups, is a major focus of the company, as is building community events that everyone can attend.

To celebrate the new venue and Ballistic Beer Co.’s move to the Greater Springfield community, Ballistic have brewed a beer especially for local residents – the Springfield Pilsner.

The beer is a crisp, clean 4.5% European pilsner brewed with Australian ingredients and is the perfect beer after you’ve mowed the lawn, when relaxing on the back deck or catching up with friends.

The Springfield Pilsner will be available on tap and in cans for take-home consumption.
