The inaugural Queensland Defence Summit, held recently in Greater Springfield, sent a rallying cry and the State Government has answered the call.
Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning The Hon Cameron Dick MP has announced a $350,000 education and training injection into the region, to upskill workers, ready for any incoming Defence Industry work.
More than 300 business and industry types mixed it upwith Defence leaders and all three levels of government during the one day event held at the University of Southern Queensland. Greater Springfield’s close proximity to RAAF Amberley, other airports and emerging city amenity has it perfectly placed for Defence industries.
The symposium heard that Defence has a $200 billion budget over the next ten years as it looks to home-grown engineering and ingenuity to shore-up Australia’s military capability.
