Pressure on health services in Brisbane’s burgeoning western corridor would get some relief with the opening of an integrated health centre at Greater Springfield.
The first of its kind in the region, the 2000-square-metre Mater Health Centre includes Mater Pharmacy, Mater Pathology, Active Rehabilitation Physiotherapy, My FootDr (podiatry), Brookwater Dental, Greater Springfield Orthodontics and Queensland X-Ray.
Springfield City Group Chairman Maha Sinnathamby said the centre would underpin the initial stages of Greater Springfield’s Health City in Springfield Central.
“We want people living in this region to be the healthiest in the country with ready access to world-class health and wellbeing services,” Mr Sinnathamby said
“The new medical centre is the first stage of Mater Health Services plans to provide for the health care needs for the people of Greater Springfield and beyond.”
Mater Private Hospital Executive Director Don Murray said Mater was thrilled to open the centre.
“Mater private specialists will be consulting from our medical suites to give residents of the Greater Springfield region access to specialist care covering a number of disciplines including gastroenterology, urology, obstetrics, orthopaedics, neurosurgery & plastics and reconstructive surgery,” Mr Murray said.
“Mater is committed to building a healthy community and we anticipate Mater Health Centre Brookwater will be a critical first step toward delivering a long-term integrated health and wellness precinct for the residents of Greater Springfield.”
Ipswich Division 2 Councillor Paul Tully said the Mater Health Centre would be an asset for the whole region.
“The opening of this facility is important not just for the residents of the Springfield area but for all surrounding areas,” he said.
“Developments like these will ensure the western corridor continues to grow its reputation as a provider of quality, accessible health care for many years to come.”
