Yesterday marked a significant milestone with the Ministerial announcement of the new Springfield Central Senior Secondary Campus for the Springfield Central State High School.
Located on 3.0 Ha in Education City stage lay, the new Campus will feature an impressive vertical design with a number of connected 6 story buildings for teaching and learning, and includes a multi-purpose Sports Hall and a Performing Arts Centre that are located close to Robelle Domain and will have some accessibility by the community.
The Queensland Department of Education purchased the site in September this year. The Senior Secondary Campus will be for Years 10, 11 & 12. The existing school site will focus on the Junior Secondary Years of 7, 8 & 9.
Springfield Central State High School is the only dedicated secondary school operating in Greater Springfield and has a current school enrolment of approximately 1900.
The new Senior Secondary Campus, scheduled for opening in 2024, will enable the school to almost double in size to accommodate the influx and growth in secondary student numbers coming from the existing Greater Springfield Primary Schools.
On the vacant site yesterday for the announcement by the Minister for Education, The Hon. Grace Grace, was Mrs Charis Mullen MP, State Member for Jordan, Department of Education and Springfield City Group executives, Ms Anne Lawson, Principal Springfield Central SHS and Year 11 students from the school.
