The Springfield Anglican College Design & Technology Centre and Kindergarten Opened

The Springfield Anglican College’s two newest buildings, The Tiny Tartan Kindergarten and the Design and Technology Centre were officially opened June 14th by the Minister for Education, Training and Employment, The Honourable John-Paul Langbroek MP.

Federal Member for Oxley, Mr Bernie Ripoll MP; Ipswich City Council Mayor, Cr Paul Pisasale; and Councillor Ipswich City Council, Councillor David Morrison where also in attendance.

The opening of these two buildings is a great milestone for The Springfield Anglican College who commenced with 28 students fourteen years ago on the Primary Campus site. Since then it has grown into a College of approximately 850 across both the Primary and Senior Campus sites.

The construction of The Tiny Tartan Kindergarten commenced in early December, 2011, however, the vision for the Kindergarten started many years earlier in 2007. The Kindergarten opened to students February 27, 2012. While construction of The Design and Technology Centre commenced in late 2011 and was ready for students as they welcomed in the 2012 academic year in Term 1, 2012.

With the opening of The Tiny Tartan Kindergarten, The Springfield Anglican College now offers the full range of schooling options from Kindergarten through to Year 12. The program encompasses a wide range of learning experiences that allow for individual student needs, growth and development and is based on the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines. The Tiny Tartan Kindergarten program offers a unique learning environment where students also have the opportunity to commence early specialist classes and develop an appreciation and understanding of Mandarin Chinese, Library, Music and Physical Education.

The Design and Technology Centre based on the Senior Campus has provided students in Years Seven to Twelve from the Design and Technology and Graphics streams with an enhanced learning environment and state of the art equipment.

Thank you to the State Government for its support in funding both the Kindergarten and Design and Technology Centre programs, and the College Board for supporting the additional funding and build for the Kindergarten.
